Grand Hotel Karel V
In the historic city centre of Utrecht in The Netherlands, the prestigious Grand Hotel Karel V opened its doors in September 1999.
This magnificent five star hotel was established in the former headquarters of the Teutonic Order following a painstaking and
extensive refurbishment in the late nineties.
Locally known as the "Duitse" house, the building dates from the fourteenth century. Emperor Charles V stayed here, together with his sister, Maria of Hungary, and attended the Chapter Meeting of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1546.
