Dynamite VSP Building Objects

Swept Object Elements Dynamite VSP features a unique parametric building modeller which automatically extrudes imported 2D floor plan strings by a given overall height or number of floors. Simple elevational bitmap textures may be instantly applied floor by floor to the outer walls of each building.

Building objects in Dynamite VSP are not intended to provide a detailed architectural model of any given building, but help to put a civil engineering project in context by providing simple tools to help model a basic low polygon representation of the surrounding environment.

By default, building objects have a permanent dependence on their associated parent shapes which are generally derived from imported design strings. When a design change occurs, all associated building geometry is updated automatically.

Wall Mapping Options

There are four mapping options for draping elevational wall bitmaps to the faces of building objects:

  • Box mapping per floor - This option causes the wall bitmap to be repeated on every floor of the building object. The width of the map is specified in metres and is repeated around the building to the same scale.
  • Box mapping per building - Identical to box mapping by floor, except that the wall bitmap is applied once vertically across the full height of the building with no vertical repeat.
  • Face mapping - This option causes the wall bitmap to be stretched to fit each individual side of the building. The bitmap will be applied to every wall of the building.
  • Wrap Mapping - This option causes the wall bitmap to be wrapped around the entire building once, and causes the bitmap to be stretched vertically to the full height of the building.

Building Object Styles

Once a series of rail object types has been defined, the associated creation parameters may be saved to a text based Building Object Style to provide an easy means of re-using the parameters at a later date. The syntax for building object styles forms part of the command language for Dynamite VSP which allows commonly used settings to be stored in text based styles for later re-use.

Building Object Styles may be defined interactively in the dedicated Building Object Style Editor panel, or in any text editor or spreadsheet application.

The Building Object Style Editor allows the application of a range of buildings to be applied across a visualisation model simultaneously by associating a building type with a series shape label masks.
