Dynamite VSP Key Features

Simple to Learn User Interface

The key to the simplicity of using Dynamite VSP lies in the powerful Dynamite VSP Explorer panel, from which almost every command can be accessed.

The upper portion of the panel provides a hierarchical tree view of the contents of the current scene. This provides direct and immediate access to every aspect of the visualisation. The lower part reacts to viewport interaction by providing full context sensitive editing capabilities for any selected object.

Data Import

Dynamite VSP is capable of importing 3d geometry directly from the following file formats:

  • MX Model files
  • MX GENIO files
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D VSP3D files
  • 12D Ascii files
  • LandXML files
  • DXF files

Dynamite VSP objects which are derived from any of these file formats retain permanent links to the original source file. This provides the possibility to make automated updates of a Dynamite VSP visualisation model whenever a design change occurs.

The Imported Object Manager panel is designed to provide an overview of all imported data in the current scene. From this panel it is possible to update all imported data in a single operation, and to check the general status of imported data to see at a glance whether your visualisation is out-of-step with your source design data. Automatic Environment Settings

In each new visualisation scene, Dynamite VSP applies default environment settings to prevent you from having to spend time setting these up for yourself. These settings include standard sky and optional fog settings which may be edited or removed from the scene at any time by selecting the appropriate environment nodes in the Dynamite VSP Explorer panel.

Automatic Material Assignment

One of the ways in which the visualisation process is streamlined in Dynamite VSP is though the automated assignment and management of materials (or textures). Materials in are normally created and edited via the Autodesk 3ds Max Materials Editor, but this panel can be difficult to master.

Dynamite VSP’s automated generation and assignment of materials ensures that visualisation models can be developed rapidly without needing to have a full undertstanding of the Materials Editor. However, as your knowledge of visualisation grows it is likely that you may ultimately decide to customise these definitions to your own requirements or even generate your own materials.

Images with associated geo-referencing data stored in ESRI World File format are automatically placed in the correct geographic location and scale when draped over any imported triangulation or tin.

Swept Object Styles

Dynamite VSP features a proprietary style based lofter which is specifically designed for modelling civil components along the path of one or more parent shapes such as imported design strings. In some cases this functionality can this remove the need for the production of triangulation or tin data entirely.

At it's simplest, it can be deployed for lofting objects such as bridges, tunnels and other structures which follow the path of one or more 3D shapes. Swept Object Styles can then be saved for later re-use. These styles hold all the parameters necessary to rebuild complex swept objects including independent material assignments for each element in the style.

Complete highway surface models can also be built using this feature which can include road markings, traffic barriers, embankments, ditches and variable offsets. All this is possible from a single parent shape and a Dynamite VSP Swept Object Style. More...

Object Placement Styles

Dynamite VSP Object Placement Styles provide a uniquely powerful and flexible way to manage the population of a visualisation model with objects such as vehicles, street furniture, trees, signs and drive through cameras. All placed objects are physically and permanently linked to any nominated parent shape. More...

Road Marking Object Styles

Dynamite VSP features a powerful solution for the creation of road markings. These objects can be draped as "ribbons" along shape objects with fully adjustable line widths and mark/gap lengths. Road marking objects are automatically updated when updating or moving the parent shape. More...

Rail Object Styles

Dynamite VSP parametric rail objects are capable of representing a range of safety fences, walls and even railway tracks. These objects can be associated with any parent shape. When used in conjunction with feature interpretation, the creation of all safety fences or rail tracks becomes fully automated. More...

Building Object Styles

Dynamite VSP parametric building objects are capable of generating a range 3D fully textured buildings quickly and effectively from 2D floor plan strings. This feature is an ideal way to quickly populate cityscapes or add simple buildings in the background of your civil engineering visualisation model. More...

Feature Interpretation

Feature Interpretation Styles may be used to automatically associate imported strings with object placement instructions as an integrated part of the data import process.

This works by associating pre-defined OPS, SOS, BOS, ROS or RMS styles with a series of simple string label masks. This means that the placement of road markings, street furniture and even animated vehicles can now be fully automated.

When used in conjunction with automatic texture assignment and environment generation in Dynamite VSP, this feature can have you ready to start rendering within minutes of loading your design model data. More...

Parameter Instancing

Parameter instancing is a new concept in Dynamite VSP which allows geometric parameters to be shared between multiple objects of the basic type. More...

Country Kits

Dynamite VSP includes a localised country kit designed specifically for each target market. Each country kit features a territory specific selection of the following:

Language

All dialog boxes and other panels which form part of the Dynamite VSP user interface can be displayed in a range of languages. The language selection facility is independent of the current country kit selection, and can be changed at any time. All panels are updated instantly to the selected language.

Command Language

Dynamite VSP features it's own command language which provides the framework for the powerful style based approach to recording commonly used settings in the various standard style definitions available in the product.

Licensing

Standalone and network license versions of Dynamite VSP are available. Licensing is managed by our own proprietary licensing system known as DynLM. More...
